Germaine Greer famously wrote
of women becoming invisible once their sexuality
diminished but it doesn't have to be a time for
negativity. The gift for women at age 50 is that
many finally get to know themselves, some for the first
time in their lives. After all the years of caring for
children, cleaning up other people's messes, arranging
other people's lives, the 50-year-old woman faces
herself and asks: Who am I? It can be a moment of
despair or enlightenment, or both. But it's a step in
the direction of wholeness, a step away from the need to
please others. The internet has played a large part in
enabling us to access opportunities that have not been
available to previous generations. We are no
longer confined to what is available locally but have
access to learning, challenges and experiences on a
global scale.
We hope you will enjoy the site and your
contributions are most welcome.
